Armenian Trails in Tbilisi PDF Print E-mail

The first lecture on Armenian trails in Tbilisi was held on October 04, 2015 in Galoust Gyulbenkyan hall of Hayartun Center of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia: This series of lectures, initiated by Hayartun Center, aims to raise the awareness of Tbilisi based Armenians, particularly the youth, on rich heritage, contribution to scientific, trade and industrial spheres, that ethnic Armenians have left to multinational Tbilisi.

Investigative journalist Aida Babajanyanc, who gladly undertook to hold the abovementioned series of lectures, devoted her first presentation to historical Tbilisi, a city with special geographical location, rich environment and climate conditions, which rapidly became the trade, industrial and cultural center of South Caucasus region. She well noted the significant input of the Armenian benefactors, national prominent figures representing, state and public, art and literature, as well as holy spheres to development of country’s economy, culture, art, as well as improvement of the city. During this theoretical lecture she mentioned such Armenians as Mantashoff, Aramyanc, Pitoeff, Mirozev, Ananovs, Tamamshev, Melik-Azaryanc, Eghiazaryan, Ter-Avetisov, Ter-Akopov, Bozarjyan and others, who devoted their wealth and efforts to the improvement of their beloved Tbilisi, to the well-being of its residents, as well as significantly contributed to development of Armenian Community in Tbilisi.

The audience, who gathered in Hayartun to listen the presentation and who was quiet aware of the abovementioned facts, offered to make those lectures thematic, covering in more details lives of certain Armenian prominent figures.
