On June 19, 2016, the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan, along with the delegation members, visited the Surb Prkich (St. Saviour) Church in Batumi.
The Sunday Divine Liturgy in the crowded with faithful church was celebrated by Rev. Father Ararat Gumbalyan, Pastor of Armenian community in Adjara, Guria and Imereti; the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia presided over the service. Following the Divine Liturgy, Right Rev. Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan offered a homily about the message of the feast – Feast of the Discovery of St. Mary’s Box. In his sermon, the Diocesan Primate encouraged the faithful to follow the example of the Holy Mother of God’s earthly life, faith, courage, patience, pure heart and pure mind in everyday life. The Primate extended his blessings and words of appreciation to attending the Divine Liturgy the RA Consul General in Adjara, Guria and Imereti, Mr. Aram Grigoryan in connection with the completion of his mission. Speaking about Mr. Aram Grigoryan’s work as a consul in Ajara, the Diocesan Primate referred to patriotic projects that have been brought to fruition during his service, highlighting significant contribution of the worthy son of the Armenian nation made to the opening of the Alexander Mantashev Educational Cultural Youth Center in Batumi. The Diocesan Primate on behalf of the Armenian faithful of Georgia presented Aram Grigoryan with the painting of Old Tbilisi by famous artist Tengiz Mikoyants. The Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia together with the delegation members returned back to Tbilisi upon completion of their visit to Batumi the same day.
