On November 19, 2016, a synod assembly of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Georgia was held. The agenda included 15 issues; the election of a new Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Georgia was among them. Marcus Shokh (Latvia) was nominated for the position. In attendance were synod members; the Head of the State Agency for Religious Issues, Zaza Vashakmadze; Mr. Christopher Fronzek, Attache of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Georgia; delegation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Germany; representatives of the Evangelical Baptist Church and the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Holy Church. The Head of the State Agency for Religious Issues, Zaza Vashakmadze; the Head of the Evangelical Baptist Church in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Merab Gaprindashvili; and Very Rev. Father Khoren Hovhannisyan, assistant to the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia; greeted the Synod. Father Khoren transmitted to the synod members and the attendees the greetings of His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan, the Primate of the Armenian Diocese n Georgia, wishing them a productive meeting. Very Rev. Father Khoren Hovhannisyan expressed gratitude to the Head of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Hans-Joachim Kiderlen, for eight-year cooperation, wishing him success in all his endeavors, and expressed hope that under a new leader the cooperation between the Armenian Diocese in Georgia and the Evangelical Lutheran Church will continue positively. At the Synod assembly of the Evangelical Lutheran Church Very Rev. Father Khoren Hovhannisyan was accompanied by Michael Avagyan, Head of Legal Affairs and Cooperation Department. |
