On January 29, 2017, following the Sunday Divine Liturgy at the Surb Prkich Church (Saint Savior), the faithful gathered in the church courtyard near the Khachkar, where Rev. Father Ararat Gumbalyan, Pastor of Armenian community in Adjara, Guria and Imereti, conducted a service for the repose of the souls of those killed in military service, noting in particular the soldiers killed during the 4-day April war. In attendance were RA Consul General in Adjara, Yeghishe Sargsyan; community officials, Armenian intellectuals, civil society members. The people present laid flowers at the Khachkar. It was followed by a festive program at the Alexander Mantashyan Educational Cultural Youth Center in Batumi of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia (Director: Sona Hovhannisyan). Father Ararat transmitted to the people present the blessings of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan, he preached on the mystery of the day, and presented glorious pages, the Armenian army wrote in the centuries-old history, as well as the formation of the Armenian Armed Forces after the country gained its independence. Addressing the Armenian community of Batumi, RA Consul General in Adjara, Yeghishe Sargsyan, extended his congratulations and good wishes on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Armenian army. The attendees watched a video highlighting the 25th anniversary of the formation of the Armenian army with great interest. A beautiful multi-genre concert featuring the creative groups of the Alexander Mantashyan Center created a true festive spirit during the event. A reception was organized by Consulate General of Armenia in Batumi. The Armenian Army Day became a real feast for the Armenian community of Batumi. |
