On May 19, 2017, the “Last Bell” rang for the graduates of the Georgian public schools. Following the “Last Bell” event, the graduates will step into a new stage of life and take on new responsibilities. The first step of it is taking their final exams on May 21. 40, 000 graduates at 1600 Georgian public schools must render an account of their knowledge gained from school, and demonstrate their readiness to step into a new stage of life, like adults. But before that they will experience joy and sadness of the “Last Bell” event.

The officials of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia certainly were in attendance of the “Last Bell” event held at Tbilisi № 104 Armenian school and № 103 Armenian-Georgian Public school. There are 31 Armenian graduates at the both schools, 16 - at №104 Public School and 15 - at Armenian department of Public School № 103 respectively. 3 graduates will presumably receive a gold medal at №104 Public School, and one – at Armenian department of Public School № 103. It is nice to see that the graduates of the two schools being fluent in both Armenian and Georgian said a fond farewell to their teachers, schools and friends. Separation anxiety was particularly noticeable in farewell remarks to the headmasters and class mentors of the both schools, to 104 School Director, Irina Zhamkochyan, teacher Alla Grigoryan, 103 School Director, Archil Chkhaidze and teacher Gayane Mkhitaryan. Future first graders congratulated the graduates and expressed their kindest wishes. At the initiative of the Educational Department of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, the “Saint Nerses Shnorhali” Preschool students had prepared for a special day. They were dressed in similar clothing, gave emotional farewell speech, and performed joyful songs and beautiful dances, thanks to the joint efforts of the Educational Department Director, Eugenia Markosyan, and teachers Metaksia Ghazaryan, Oksana Sharoyan, Mari Abulyan.

Rev. Father Virap Ghazaryan, Pastor of the Saint Etchmiadzin Church in Tbilisi; Karine Manukyan, the Coordinator of National School Projects at the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia; the Editor of the “Vrastan” Newsletter (“Georgia”) Van Baiburtyan; and others congratulated the graduates and wished them to face life’s challenges with dignity, to keep the honor of their school, family and nation high, to be worthy citizens of the country.

Following the festive concert the graduates take strolls on the streets, wearing white clothes with writings and good wishes on them.

Following the “Last Bell” event the graduates will take final exams for maturity certificate.
