Delegates of Armenian Diocese in Georgia Attend Event Dedicated to 50th Anniversary of Jinishian Memorial Foundation PDF Print E-mail

aAmong the guests of honor was the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan.

The Jinishian Memorial Foundation (JMF) is a charitable organization, established on May 17, 1966 by the bequest of Armenian businessman and philanthropist Vartan Jinishyan in memory of his parents. The Jinishian Memorial Program provides extensive services of vital importance to thousands of needy Armenians living in different corners of the globe, providing assistance to Armenians stricken by poverty due to the conflict and unstable conditions.

Ms. Eliza Minasyan, Executive Director of the Jinishian Memorial Program, gave opening remarks. She valued various humanitarian and development activities carried by JMP in different corners of the globe to help raise the quality of life of Armenians. In 1993, the Jinishian program began to explore extending its activities to Armenia. The Jinishian Memorial Program implements relief activities in Armenia, Artsakh and Georgia. During the last 15 years, it has supported durable solutions to social and economic problems.

In her congratulatory remarks, Minister Hranush Hakobyan highly appreciated the Jinishian Memorial Foundation’s activities, and noted that the Foundation had been achieving great heights in the 1spheres of healthcare, agriculture, civil society, economy and community development.

The Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan, appreciated the Jinishian Memorial Foundation’s benevolent activities for the welfare of the nation, development of Armenian organizations, preservation of our language and culture. The Diocesan Primate appreciated the Jinishian Memorial Foundation for the participation in the repair works at the “House of Hovhannes Tumanyan” Center, in the establishment, improvement of the Hayartun Center in Tbilisi, the “House of Hovhannes Tumanyan” Center, the Alexander Mantashev Center in Batumi that operate under the auspices of the Diocese and implementation of many other projects; he highlighted the social and charity programs aimed at preservation of spiritual and national values in Javakheti, which had been implemented thanks to the financial assistance of the Jinishian Memorial Foundation

2With deep gratitude, in 2011 one of the halls of the Hayartun Center of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia was named after the worthy son of the nation, Vardan Jinishian.

At the conclusion of his speech, the Bishop transmitted the writ of blessing on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of Jinishian Memorial Foundation and the painting by famous artist Tengiz Mikoyants.

On the same day, the delegates of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, which included Director of the Diocesan Cultural Department, Levon Chidilyan; Michael Avagyan, Head of Legal Affairs and Cooperation Department; who accompanied the Diocesan Primate, attended the new musical performance H. Paronyan’s “Honorable Beggars” at Gabriel Sundukyan National Academic Theater, held with the support of the Jinishian Memorial Foundation.
