a1Opened just a few months ago, the “House of Hovhannes Tumanyan” Center for Science and Culture of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia has adopted a mission to satisfy the different interests of the Armenian community members through meetings, discussions, exhibitions, presentations, acquaintance and visits. The Center undertakes many wonderful initiatives. Series of interesting events entitled “We Read…” – the public discussion of works by different authors, take place here on a regular basis.1

Indeed, to preserve creative atmosphere of the “Great inhabitant of Lori”, to instill within the next generation of young people a renewed interest in it is one of the top priorities of Hovhannes Tumanyan’s house. It is not accidental that series kicked off with the reading of Tumanyan’s fables, quatrains, as well as the works of other Armenian Greats.

And so, On December 9, 2017, the “House of Hovhannes Tumanyan” Center for Science and Culture of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia hosted a literary event “We Read 2Ahanit Bostanjyan”.

Anahit Bostanjyan’s books of poems, translations, statements, articles, reviews had been put on the table, and attractive, influential and masterful Anahit looked at the hall from the screen.

Anahit Bostnanjyan’s creative spirit, who wrote in multiple genres, and pain caused by the untimely loss prevailed in the hall. In attendance were readers, friends, relatives, colleagues, and admirers. The worthy daughters of the late poetess with their family members were present.

Director of the “Home of Hovhannes Tumanyan” Center Gisane Hovsepyan, who every time hosts the events in a unique and interesting way, this time had presented the parchments containing the author’s quatrains, sayings, thoughts, becoming the reader’s companion.3

In her opening remarks, Gisane Hovsepyan transmitted the blessings and good wishes of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan, as a daily prayer extended her kind words of gratitude to the worthy children of the Armenian nation; through their efforts the house of the Poet of all Armenians has been transferred to the Armenian community of Tbilisi, has turned into the center of literature, creativity and culture.

President of Production Company in Armenia, Marina Abelyan welcomed the attendees. The guest from Armenia had brought with them a big bundle of books from the Avetik Isahakyan Central Library in Yerevan, as well as the message of the Library’s Director Hasmik Karapetyan to the House of Hovhannes Tumanyan and the library, which was established here. Mrs. 4Marina was impressed with the house, and promised she would come back again with another bundle of books and would donate Yervand Kochar’s sketch portraying Hovhannes Tumanyan to the library.

Afterwards, the remarks were made by Givi Shakhnazari, Meruzhan Shahumyan, Mikhail Ananov, Roza Zohrabyan, Levon Chidilyan, Levan Tsalugeshashvili, Manuk 5Manukyan and others, which contained appreciation, memories, grief and the pain of separation, featuring the talented poetess’s quatrains and her thinking and philosophy.

Marina, the eldest daughter, touched upon the “Kamurj” Almanac headed by Anahit Bostanjyan, which with tireless dedication to literature, for years, she had compiled, edited and presented the readers with the works of her colleagues, including prose and poetry. She established literary relation between different nations through 6translations and publications. The “Kamurj” Almanac for Anahit Bostanjyan was like her third child, which was cherished and brought up by the young mother who was widowed early, dealing with the severe blow of fate.

Gayane, the younger daughter, has informed the public that she took responsibility for the “Kamurj” Almanac publishing and continuous and uninterrupted activity of “Kamurj” Public, Literary and Cultural Organization.

This is how the literary event dedicated to Ahanit Bostanjyan was held.
