Armenian Apostolic Holy Church on the Sunday before Easter celebrates Palm Sunday.

Palm Sunday symbolizes the triumphal "Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem". The Catholicos of All Armenians His Holiness Karekin II announced Palm Sunday the Day of Blessing the Children. According to the Gospels, Jesus rode a donkey into Jerusalem, and the celebrating people there lay down their cloaks in front of him, and also lay down small branches of trees. On 24 March the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Church in Georgia solemnly celebrated Palm Sunday.

On Palm Sunday, after the Morning Service under the leadership of the Head of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Church in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan the Divine Liturgy was conducted. Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan conducted the ceremony of Andastan and the Blessing of the Children.

Than Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan read the sermon on the occasion of the feast and blessed the willow branches.

During the Evening Service under the leadership of the Head of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Church in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan the liturgical ceremony “The Opening of the Door” took place, which symbolizes the following: the Gates of Heaven are closed for the people and under the plaintive hymn derived from the Psalms we ask the Lord to open the Gate of the Kingdom of Heaven.
