A Prayer of Thanks to Mark the Proclamation of the First Republic of Armenia |
On the 28th of May, the day of the proclamation of the First Republic of Armenia, a Prayer of Thanks was offered in churches of Samtskhe- Javakheti and Batumi, belonging to the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia. A festive Prayer of Thanks under the leadership of the Head of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Church in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan was conducted at Surb Etchmiadzin Church in Tbilisi. The clergy of the church, employees of the residence of the Diocese and the "Hayartun" Center, representatives of the Armenian community in Georgia, parents and parish attended the service. Advisor of the RA Embassy in Georgia Levon Torgomyan also attended the ceremony. At the end of the ceremony the Primate of the Diocese congratulated the audience and stressed that this wonderful holiday is particularly close to the Armenians of Georgia, as the Declaration of Independence of the First Armenian Republic was signed in our hometown Tbilisi. Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan, recalling the fallen soldiers and heroes of Sardarapat, Bash Aparan, Satkha village in Javakheti, called the proclamation of the First Armenian Republic a manifestation of our people’s will to live freely and independently, which was realized at the cost of centuries of struggle and spilled blood of many thousands of people. The Head of the Diocese prayed to the Lord for the prosperity of the Republic of Armenia, Artsakh, the worldwide Armenian Diaspora, the preservation of peace and the deepening of the Armenian-Georgian friendly relations.
