On the 16^th of June, the Head of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Holy Church in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan visited Samtskhe-Javakheti region.

The Head of the Diocese participated in Sunday Divine Liturgy, which was conducted at Church of St. Gregory the Illuminator in Akhaltsikhe. At the end of the Liturgy the Head of the Diocese delivered a sermon about the Feast of Discovery of Relics of Saint Gregory the Illuminator.

After Sunday Divine Liturgy, under the leadership of the Head of the Diocese, Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan a prayer for the repose of the soul in honor of the 20th anniversary of the Artsakh war hero Monte Melkonian’s death, who died for the liberation of Artsakh, was served.

The Head of the Diocese also met the local public.

After that Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan met the members of Church Parish Council and spiritual shepherd Abegha (Monk) Hakob Sahakyan.

After the religious ceremonies the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia visited the Creative Union of Akhaltsikhe named after Vahram Gayfejyan, operating under the auspices of the Church, where the event, dedicated to the 110th Birth Anniversary of the great Armenian musician Aram Khachaturian, was held. The afternoon concert was organized by the Creative Union of Akhaltsikhe named after Vahram Gayfejyan, under the leadership of Alexander Igitkhanyan.

Two Deputy Heads of Akhaltsikhe Regional Administration - Ashot Manasyan and Malkhaz Jhujhunadze, the Chairman of the Armenian Musicians' Union of Georgia Artem Grigorents, the clergy and intellectuals attended the event.

Businessman and philanthropist Sos Sahakyan, who arrived from Armenia, attended the event and delivered a speech.

During the event the biography of the great Armenian composer Aram Khachaturian was presented, after that the excerpts from music pieces by Aram Khachaturian where performed.

Alexander Igitkhanyan, the Head of the Creative Union of Akhaltsikhe named after Vahram Gayfejyan, welcomed the guests.

Finally the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan delivered a speech and blessed the audience.

The Head of the Diocese visited the Vicariate of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Samtskhe-Javakheti, the authority of which extends to Armenian communities of Tsalka region, and here with the Vicar-General of Javakhk Supreme Archimandrite Babken Salbiyan he discussed the issues of concern.

Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan also visited Ninotsminda and asked the local spiritual shepherd Priest Armash Poghosyan about the reconstruction works in the cultural and educational center named after Rafael Gharslyan.
