On the 15th of June, in Calouste Gulbenkian Hall of the "Hayartun" Cultural Сenter of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, an evening, dedicated to the blessed memory of Archbishop Gevorg Seraidaryan, who had humbly served his mission for three decades at the Cathedral of Surb Gevorg, was held. Tbilisi Organization of the “Vernatun” Union of Armenian Writers of Georgia, with the support of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, initiated the event. The clergy, Armenian officials in Georgia, intellectuals, art representatives and the believers attended the memory evening. The students of St. Prophet Yeghia Sunday school entered the hall with 10 burning candles, symbolizing the ten years that separate the Primate from his believers flock. Roza Zohrabyan, the organizer and the host of the evening, presented in detail the life and religious activities of Archbishop Gevorg Seraidaryan, the years of his service in the Holy Church of Christ. In addition to research activities of devoted clergyman, which consisted of his scientific work in the field of chronology and drawing up the church calendar, the importance of St. Prophet Yeghia Sunday school establishment was highlighted in particular, here many thousands of Armenian young people not speaking their native language, began to learn the Armenian language, and the school exists to the present day. The Primate of the Diocese, Priest Husik Harutyunyan, President of “Vernatun” Union of Armenian Writers of Georgia Gevorg Snkhchyan, Press Secretary of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia Susanna Khachaturian, the graduate of St. Prophet Yeghia Sunday school Tamara Solomonova and many others shared memories and spoke about humbleness, kindness and wisdom of Archbishop Gevorg Seraidaryan, about his great contribution to the friendship between the Armenian and Georgian Churches. The Catholicos of All Armenians, His Holiness Vazgen I, the Catholicos of All Armenians, His Holiness Karekin I, and His Holiness and Beatitude Catholicos Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II highly appreciated Archbishop Gevorg Seraidaryan, who was a holder of the Order of Honor of Georgia and RA "Gregory of Narek" medal holder. In the end the Head of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan blessed the audience and delivered a speech. Praising the evening dedicated to the blessed memory of Archbishop Gevorg Seraidaryan, the Head of the Diocese bowed to his memory and called the event a manifestation of great respect, love, and appreciation of the spiritual father’s religious activities, the Bishop also stressed the need to appreciate the clergyman’s activities in his time period. During the memory evening video scenes from the life of Archbishop Gevorg Seraidaryan were shown and the melodies were performed by the church choir of the Cathedral of Surb Gevorg in Tbilisi (conductor Luiza Vardanova) and the pianists Yesai Abovyan and Karen Mirzoyan. |
