Holy Translators Day Was Celebrated at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia |
On the 20th of June, at Surb Etchmiadzin Church in Tbilisi of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, Holy Translators - Mesrop Mashtots and Sahak Partev -Day, established according to the Armenian Church Calendar, was celebrated. Students of St. Gregory Narekaci Saturday school and St.Prophet Eghia Sunday school, studying Armenian at the “Hayartun” Center of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, benefactor and businessman Alexander Utmazyan, the clergy, parents and intellectuals attended the festive Divine Liturgy. Under the leadership of the Head of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan the festive Divine Liturgy was served. The sacristan of Surb Etchmiadzin Church Priest Manuk Zeynalyan conducted the Divine Service; he delivered a sermon about Mesrop Mashtots and Sahak Partev, who were the creators of Armenian alphabet, Translators and Interpreters of the Bible. At the end of the Liturgy the Head of the Diocese congratulated the believers on the occasion of the beautiful holiday of the Armenian Church - Holy Translators Day. Referring to the preservation of the Armenian language and Armenian education in the Diaspora, Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan highly appreciated activities of St. Gregory Narekaci r Saturday school and St.Prophet Eghia Sunday school at the “Hayartun” Center of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, which provide several dozens of Armenians of different ages, separated from the Armenian language, with an opportunity to learn their mother tongue and to come close to their roots. Responsible for the educational department of the “Hayartun” Cultural Center Eugenia Markosyan handed over course completion certificates to the second-class graduates of these schools, and encouraged to remain loyal to the Armenian Church and the Armenian language. Benefactor Alexander Utmazyan, schools’ students and parents congratulated the graduates and urged them to keep the mother tongue holy. At the end of the event, in Calouste Gulbenkian Hall of the “Hayartun” Center, Armenia's Consul in Georgia, Anahit Barseghyan in memory of recently deceased father organized a feast for children. |
