On the 8th of September, 2013, the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan sanctified Surb Astvatsatsin Church ("Holy Mother of God") in Small Daghet Village of Tetritskaro Region in Georgia.

Many pilgrims from Tbilisi and neighboring Big Daghet and Shamshulda villages arrived in Small Daghet village. The Head of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia sanctified the altar, columns, baptistery and holy images in the church, after that spiritual shepherd of Surb Gevorg Church , who is also the shepherd, visiting the regions of Bolnisi and Tetritskaro, Priest Narek Ghushchyan conducted the first Divine Liturgy.

The joy of the faithful was great, they had prepared themselves from previous day to receive with spiritual joy communion from the hands of the priest at the first liturgy.

Daghet, Daghet Khachen is Armenian-populated village in Tetritskaro region in Georgia, situated in the south-east, 3km away from the regional center. The population of the village is occupied with growing crops, horticulture and cattle breeding. In 1789 Armenians from Khachen province of Karabakh founded the village. There are places of former settlements, chapels and the cemetery nearby Khachen. There was a stone, average size Holy Mother of God Church in the village. There was also organized supervision of theological school in the village.

The church, built in the 18th century, had been closed for decades and was in poor condition, but due to charitable activities of Arsen Agamiryan, Seyran Feyrikhanyan, Artem Arushanyan and Levon Karakhanyan, the natives of Daghet village, who are residing Russia, the House of God was consecrated.

In this chimney corner, music and religious hymns of the Liturgy from the small church, blending with the beauty of nature, as though granted salvation by faith and hope, and created a mysterious open peace of mind.

After the Divine Liturgy the traditional sacrifice “matagh” was given to the pilgrims.
