The Armenian youth of Tbilisi took an interest in distance learning |
On February 23, 2014 the Calouste Gulbenkian Hall of the “Hayartun” Center at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia hosted a meeting with Ashot Galstyan, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Native language at the Armenian State Pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovyan. The main purpose of the meeting was to present to Armenians of Georgia the admissions to full-time and distance courses for the 2014-2015 academic year. The Armenian youth of Tbilisi, their parents, teachers, future applicants, and high school students attended the meeting. Mr. Galstyan presented in detail to the audience the innovations that would take place that year during admission to the Armenian State Pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovyan. It was also noted that from new academic year the Pedagogical University aside from full-time and extramural courses would also introduce distance learning, this is proven in foreign countries and effective method, which offers online graduate programs to the students. The innovation will be introduced from the upcoming academic year to all departments and aims to preserve the national in Diaspora. Associate Professor Ashot Galstyan gladly answered the questions of the audience. The innovation in higher pedagogical education aimed at preservation of the national in Diaspora and Armenian education was accepted with enthusiasm.
