The new Academic year started in Saturday school “Surb Grigor Narekatsi” (“St. Gregory the Narekatsi”) and in Sunday school “Surb Yeghia the Prophet” at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia. Both schools teach Armenian language to the schoolchildren.

The director of the cultural department at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, and the head of the “Hayartun” center Levon Chidilyan and the spiritual supervisor Deacon Gevorg Antonyan greeted and congratulated around sixty Armenian children of different ages, who had come to Saturday school “Surb Grigor Narekatsi’’ for the first time on September 13, early in the morning.

The teacher Tamara Gaboyan handed out “Zangak” (“The bell”) ABC by A. Kyurkchyan and L. Ter-Grigoryan provided by the Ministry of Diaspora Affairs of RA. She also handed out four workbooks, and those on the third form were provided with the textbook “Armenian language – 2” by J. Gyulamiryan, as well as with workbooks.

Lessons of Armenian language started in “St. Yeghia the Prophet” Sunday school on September 14. The teacher Roza Zohrabyan warmly welcomed the teenagers and the young people, who have come to learn the native language and the letters created by Mesrop Mashtots, as well as to interact with the national spirit that all around is full with. After handing out the textbooks and workbooks, the teacher Roza Zohrabyan started the first lesson. The subject of the lesson was the Armenian man and the Armenian origin.

Armenian national, social and literary figures from Beyrut (editor of “Kamsar” newspaper Zhirayr Danielyan, the editor of literary department at “Azdak” daily newspaper and the editor of “Bagin” newspaper Sargis Kirakosyan, as well as the editor of “Khosnak” (the speaker) newspaper Hambik Martirosyan) greeted the learners of the Sunday school and congratulated on the new academic year. The head of the “Hayartun” center Levon Chidilyan accompanied the guests around the center, where they got acquainted with the works processed.

One day schools of Armenian language teach literacy, grammar and literature, develop communication in Armenian. The schools also have lessons of the history of the Armenian people and the Armenian Church. The tuition is free of charge and lasts two years.

During this academic year the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia is capable of accepting more than two hundred schoolchildren in its one day schools. The acceptance will continue till the end of September.
