On November 9, 2014 the presentation of the video “Glakho – the second life” took place in Tbilisi. In fact the video with 6 Armenian and 6 Georgian songs by the Honoured Artist of Armenia and Georgia Glakho Zaqaryan, became the second birth of the best performer of Eastern songs, famous Armenian singer from Tbilisi, late Glakho Zaqaryan.
The video was sponsored by the former Ambassador of Armenia to Georgia, at present the Minister of Justice of RA Hovhannes Manukyan. The performance of Sayat-Nova’s songs by Glakho Zaqaryan was a real exploration for Mr. Manukyan. During the opening ceremony of the presentation of the video “Glakho – the second life”, the Minister of Justice of RA and the guests who arrived with him, the Armenian community in Armenia, the pupils of drum and duduk groups at “Hayartun” center, as well as Glakhko Zaqaryan’s friends put flowers on the singers burial vault and spread incense aroma around. The Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan performed requiem for the peace of the deceased’s soul. Later the event continued in the big hall of the library at the Parliament of Georgia, where the canvases of the famous painter, master of Tbilisi coloring Tenguiz Mikoyants were exhibited together with those corresponding to the theme of the day. The love towards the unrivaled performer of Tbilisi urban songs and Sayat-Nova melodies, the respect towards the memory of the real Tbilisian Glakho Zaqaryan made the multinational society of the city, those who remember Glakho and appreciate him, come to the event. The presentation started with the record of Glakho Zaqaryan’s performance of the song “You always …” by Sayat-Nova. Then the ensemble “Xovrelebi” continued the event, headed by Giorgi Eldar Shoshitashvili. Then the performances of the soloist at the “Hayartun” center of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia Anna Poghosova, Nina Karapetyan Gevorkova, the song and poetry of the actors of Petros Adamyan Armenian Drama Theatre Robert Hovhannisyan, Robert Aghajanyan, Samvel Elbakyan, Henrikh Petrosyan, the performances of the pupils of “Hayartun” center duduk classroom (teacher Ivane Mkrtchyan) and drum classroom (teacher Robert Kashavanidze) followed one another. Sayat-Nova’s poems, urban songs and poetry were decorated with recordings about Glakho Zaqaryan made by Yerevan artists Ruben Matevosyan and Jivan Gasparyan. Especially notable was Temur Jalaghoni’s speech - an ordinary Georgian citizen, who bowed to Glakho Zaqaryan’s talent and the centuries old friendship between Armenians and Georgians. Poet and translator Guivi Shahnazar’s memoirs were performed. In his speech the member of RA National Assembly Tajat Vardapetyan paid a tribute to Tbilisi art, and called on preserving the mother tongue. The Minister of Justice of RA Hovhannes Manukyan valued Glakho Zaqaryan as a singer who connects two cities. The Minister wished that the video titled “Glakho – the second life” would become an exploration of Glakho Zaqaryan phenomenon. The singer’s daughter Jasmina Mdiva expressed her gratitude to the Minister of Justice of RA, the Ambassador of Armenia to Georgia, an employee of the Embassy Mikael Avagyan, the Armenian Diocese in Georgia and the “Hayartun” center, all those who supported to the release of the video and the organization of the evening in a high level. The member of Tbilisi City Assembly Aleko Elisashvili highlighted the role of immortal Glakho Zaqaryan. Aleko Elisashvili announced that in case of consent from the family Tbilisi City Assembly is ready to rebury Glakho Zaqaryan in Khojivank pantheon of Armenian writers and public figures. At the end of the event the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan blessed the participants. He called the cooperation between the Armenian Diocese in Georgia and the Armenian Embassy in Georgia continuous and announced the new cooperation projects, which would be aimed to deepen the friendship between Armenia and Georgia, and to develop Armenian culture in Georgia. During the event the Head of the Division of Relations with Armenian communities of the Caucasus Region at the Department of Armenian Communities of the CIS, the Ministry of Diaspora of RA Taron Shagoyan passed the RA Ministry of Diaspora’s medal “Ambassador of the Armenian Language” to the President of the Armenian Intellectuals’ Union of Georgia. The Head of the Press Department of the Ministry of Justice Tsovinar Khachatryan and the Leader of Social Service Affairs at the Primacy of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia Mikael Avagyan led the evening in Armenian and Georgian. At the end of the evening all the participants received the video “Glakho – the second life”
