Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Meets with the Primate of the Armenian Diocese |
Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II received the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan at the Patriarchate. The Primate of the Armenian Diocese was accompanied by the poet and translator Givi Shahnazar, the director of Legal Affairs and Cooperation Department, Mikael Avagyan and mace-bearer of the Primate, Deacon Gevorg Antonyan. His Grace conveyed to the Patriarch of All Georgia best wishes from His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians. He congratulated Patriarch on the Easter and wished health and long life. The delegation members presented to the Georgian side the community programs regarding the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide and introduced a document-request from Armenian believers of Georgia on commemoration in memory of the Great Crime victims. Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed at the meeting. His Grace gave several miniatures depicting Holy Resurrection and Annunciation scenes to Patriarch as a gift brought from the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and received from His Holiness the symbols of the Easter made by Georgian craftsmen. Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia conveyed his blessing to the Armenian people and best wishes to His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, Georgian side was represented by Metropolitan Theodore of Akhaltsikhe and Tao-Klarjeti Eparchy, Patriarchate spokesman Mikael Botkoveli and the chairman of non-governmental organization "21st Century", Paata Gachechiladze.
