175 Birthday Anniversary of Ghazaros Aghayan Celebrated PDF Print E-mail

This year, on May 2, 2015, the 175th Birthday anniversary of the Armenian great writer, teacher and children’s author Ghazaros Aghayan, was celebrated. On the initiative of the “Vernatun” Armenian Writers’ Union of Georgia and with the support of the Hayartun Center, the local administration of the Kvemo Kartli local region and the Bolnisi municipality, a day in honor of Aghayan's legacy, established 25 years ago in the Bolnis-Khache village, Bolnisi region was celebrated. The delegations from Tbilisi, Javakheti, and Yerevan, visited the House-Museum of Aghayan together with students, teachers, parents, literature fans, local representatives along with citizens from neighboring villages. The Fathers from the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, Ter Husik Harutyunyan and Ter Armash Poghosyan, along with the State Representative-Governor of the Administrative-Territorial Unit of Kvemo Kartli were in attendance, as were Kakhaber Gugeshashvili, the Bolnisi Municipality Governor, Gogi Meshveliani, Ghazaros Aghayan’s relatives, who visited the museum and laid flowers to the statue in the courtyard.

The president of the “Vernatun” Armenian Writers’ Union of Georgia, Gevorg Snkhchyan, in his welcoming speech, referred to the writer’s biography and professional activity and spoke about his contribution to the development of Armenian literature.

Bolnisi Municipality Governor, Gogi Meshveliani, said that the celebration of this holiday in the writer’s birthplace is a great honor for the municipality.

The poetess, Anahit Bostanjyan, the “Vrastan” newspaper editor, Van Baiburtyan, Professor Emma Akhtyan, retired teacher, Norair Baghdasaryan, the Hayartun Center Director, Levon Chidilyan, the representative of the Writers’ Union of Armenia, Arsen Hambaryan, also gave speeches. Writer Gagik Santeyan read a congratulatory message from the president of the Writers’ Union of Armenia.

The “Parvana” Armenian Ensemble (Artistic Manager, Gaya Gharslyan) and local public school students took part in the concert hosted by honored teacher Roza Zohrabyan.
