A Flash Mob Was Organized near the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Tbilisi |
On June 2, the German Parliament overwhelmingly adopted a resolution declaring the killings of Armenians by Ottoman Turks in 1915 a genocide. The Armenians of Tbilisi reacted immediately, and at the initiative of the Hayartun Center at the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, the appreciation flash mob was organized near the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Tbilisi. Holding the flags of Armenia, Georgia and Germany, and flyers reading “Thank You”, “Justice Is Done” in four languages, employees of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, activists of the Youth Department, members of the Armenian Community of Georgia NGO, representatives of Aliq Media Armenian Information Portal in Georgia, the Hayartun Cultural Educational and Youth Center’s creative groups’ teachers, students, their parents and many individuals joined the flash mob. Speeches were made in Armenian, Georgian, Russian and English languages by the Head of the Cultural Department of the Diocese and the Director of the Hayartun Center, Levon Chidilyan; the Coordinator of the Youth Activities of the Diocese, Nina Seropova; the Head of Legal Affairs and Cooperation Department, Michael Avakian; the Armenian Community of Georgia NGO spokesperson, Sandro Ohanian; the Founder of The Peace Foundation, Giorgi Tumasyan; who expressed their thanks. Members of duduk class of the Hayartun Center performed Komitas’s melodies. The flash mob organizers handed over the flyers expressing thanks to the Embassy. The Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan; sent a letter of appreciation to the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Georgia. |
