On February 19, 2019, in the Hovhannes Tumanyan's former apartment in Tbilisi which now is "House of Hovhannes Tumanyan" Center for Science and Culture of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, the celebration of All Armenians Poet Hovhannes Tumanyan's 150th anniversary was solemnly started.
This hospitable house again was crowded. In attendance were members of the regional jubilee committee established some months ago under the presidency of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Armenia to Georgia Ruben Sadoyan, diplomats from the Embassy of Armenia. A direct connection was established with Yerevan and the birthplace of the poet – Dsegh village where also festive events were taking place.
In accordance with the tradition o Tumanyan's house, the guests gathered around the tea table, after which they attended the opening ceremony of the bronze statue of the Poet of All Armenians which was a gift for "House of Hovhannes Tumanyan" Center by Member of Parliament of Georgia David Chichinadze.
Like in previous years, on poet's birthday, members of Armenian community in Georgia, writers and public figures, pupils and students visited Tbilisi Pantheon of the Armenian Writers and Public Figures "Khojivank" where they were joined by RA Deputy Minister of Culture Tigran Galstyan, Adviser Arusyak Terchanyan, representative of RA Ministry of Diaspora Taron Shegoyan, Chairman of the "Support to Javakheti" Foundation Sos Sahakyan.
Under the presidency of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan and with participation of clergy, Requiem Service was offered near the tomb of Hovhannes Tumanyan and people laid flowers at the tombs of the great Armenian figures. Afterwards, according to the tradition established by late poetess Anahit Bostanjyan, her daughters donated books.
The event dedicated to Hovhannes Tumanyan's anniversary continued in the big hall of National Library of Georgian Parliament. The event was attended by Georgian Member of Parliament, leaders of sister churches, representatives of various organizations. At the initiative and with the support of "Lori Canyon" compatriotic union "Tumanyan's Tracks" paintings by famous Armenian painter from Tbilisi – Tengiz Mikoyants, were exhibited at the hall.
And the jubilee literary event started, conducted by the director of the Tracks House of Hovhannes Tumanyan Tracks Center Gisane Hovsepyan and Suren Abramyan, the director of the Cultural Department of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Armenia to Georgia Ruben Sadoyan presented the congratulatory message of RA President Armen Sargsyan dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Hovhannes Tumanyan – the great apologist of Armenian-Georgian friendship.   Representative of administration of the President of Georgia Konstantine Natsvlishvili conveyed congratulations of the President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili.
Co-chairperson of Georgia Writers Association Maghvala Gonashvili, Chairman of "Lori Canyon" compatriotic union Sergo Yeritsyan and Tumanyan expert Susanna Hovhannisyan congratulated and highlighted the activity of great poet of All Armenians, his multi-genre works and his role as an active public figure and citizen. The event was attended by Tumanyan's granddaughter Yelena Kolesnikova, and his granddaughter Irma Safrazbekyan have congratulated the guests and expressed her gratitude from Germany.
The soloists Svetlana Tatoeva, Anna Badalyan, Aida Bazoyan, Ivane Mkrtchyan as well as Makar Yekmalyan Choir of the Cathedral of Saint George performed and the melodies of immortal spirit of Tumanyan's works spread in the hall, Mher Melikyan, Nano Poghosova and Gari Ghalamkarov read Tumanyan's poems in Armenian and Georgian languages.
At the conclusion of the event, the Diocesan Primate offered his blessings and expressed his appreciation. Congratulating the guests, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan thanked the organizers, in the person of the jubilee commission, "House of Hovhannes Tumanyan" Center of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, Petros Adamyan Tbilisi State Armenian Drama Theatre, National Library of Georgian Parliament and "Lori Canyon" compatriotic union.
Referring to medals for the support to the jubilee events, His Grace handed over the first medals to RA Minister of Education and Science and Chairman of the state commission for Hovhannes Tumanyan's anniversary events Arayik Harutyunyan, MP of Georgia David Chichinadze and representative of President of IDeA Foundation Ruben Vardanyan.
The birthday of the great Armenian Poet became a festive event, saturated with the spirit and breath of his poetry. Events dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Hovhannes Tumanyan and Komitas Vardapet will continue during the current year at the Armenian community of Georgia.
