On April 2, 2019, in Ozurgeti, under the leadership of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan the solemn opening ceremony of the spiritual, educational, cultural and youth center took place. Within the framework of the 150th anniversary of Komitas Vardapet (celibate priest), the newly opened center was named after Komitas Vardapet.
The center in Ozurgeti is rented by the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, and the renovation was done with the financial support from the Jinishian Memorial Foundation. In recent years, Saint Sahak Partev one-day school was founded by the local spiritual pastorate. The activity of school was supported by the Alexander Mantashev Center in Batumi. The Pastor of Armenians in Adjara, Guria, Imereti and the Saint Savior (Surb Prkich) church in Batumi Rev. Father Ararat Gumbalyan have often visited the community, cared for spiritual needs of local people and many times organized the Ozurgeti community's representatives' visit and participation in liturgies and various community events held in St. Savior church in Batumi.
Afterwards, a Holy Altar was placed in the newly established center by the pastor in order to celebrate Divine Liturgies and to care for the spiritual needs of the faithful.
 The day was festive. The pupils of the Saturday school and their parents, as well as many representatives of the Armenian community in Ozurgeti, numerous guests from Tbilisi and Batumi were gathered in the center. The solemn ceremony was attended by the director of the Alexander Mantashev center (Armenian Diocese in Georgia) Sona Hovhannisyan, director of Legal Affairs and Cooperation Department of the Armenian Diocese Michael Avagyan and the head of Administrative and Economic Department Karen Yeritsyan. The event was honored with the presence of Consul General of the Republic of Armenia in Batumi Yeghishe Sargsyan.
 The church ceremony began with the Lord’s Prayer, afterwards, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan with the participation of the Prelate of Samtskhe-Javakheti and Tsalka's General Prelacy of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia and Rev. Father Ararat Gumbalyan, blessed the Holy Altar, Vemkar (the rock at the bottom of the Altar) and Icon of Holy Mother of God and offered blessing service of the center’s solemn opening ceremony. A spiritual atmosphere was formed in the center with hymns and psalms and gave a great consolation to the local faithful.
At the end of the ceremony, the attendees were delighted by recitations of the students of the Sunday school.
The Consul General of the Republic of Armenia in Batumi Yeghishe Sargsyan, Rev. Father Maghakia Amiryan and Rev. Father Ararat Gumbalyan congratulated the attendees. Members of Armenian community in Ozurgeti expressed their deep gratitude to the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia and Jinishian Memorial Foundation.
At the conclusion of the ceremony and the festive event, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan offered his blessings to the faithful in Ozurgeti, highly appreciated the work done by Pastor Rev. Father Ararat Gumbalyan and the teacher of Armenian language in St. Sahak Partev one-day school Irina Margaryan, thanked the Jinishian Memorial Foundation, particularly to director of the Foundation's US office Eliz Minasyan and executive director of the office in Yerevan Armen Hakobyan. The Diocesan Primate presented the icon to the newly opened center.
In the near future, songs and dances groups will be established in the center. The center in Ozurgeti, named after Komitas Vardapet is the 10th spiritual, educational, cultural and youth center of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia.
