A screening and discussion of the auteur films at the “Hayartun” Center of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia |
On November 27, Calouste Gulbenkian Hall of the “Hayartun” Center at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia hosted the premiere of the auteur movies “Yerevan”, “The Woman”, “Boycott” and “The Useless”. Screenwriter and director of the movies Arshak Zakaryan, cinematographer David Harutyunyan, and leading man Giorgi Hovakimyan attended the premiere. Armenian intellectuals of Tbilisi, leaders of public organizations, guests from Yerevan and members of the public were gathered in the hall. The audience got anxious while watching the movies, castigating the negative aspects of life, which advanced the idea of cleanliness of the beloved city, approaches that can strengthen the enemy through shortsighted actions, feelings of a mother who sees off her son to the army to defend the homeland, and flash of kindness of a man on the brink of suicide. After the screening author of the films Arshak Zakaryan addressed the audience, and told about the unusual filming process. It was a creation of truly national films on people’s donations, which show his way of thinking. Mentioning movie “The Useless”, the author marked difficult social situation in the country, as well as increase in the number of suicides in the country within recent years. Conveying the emotional background of a person, tightening a noose around the neck, which was perfectly expressed by actor Giorgi Hovakimyan, the film nevertheless testifies the triumph of the good. The leading man was glad that the premier took place in his native town Tbilisi, where for many years he had been working as an actor in the theatre. RA Social Protection and Monitoring Expert Vardan Gevorkyan, historian Yenok Tadevosyan, businessman Samvel Agekyan, director Nik Akopov and others appreciated the movie ideology - the accurate depiction of life, the manifestation of the Christian spirit and the triumph of the good, stressing the value of a man, since, according to the idea depicted in the auteur film, there are no useless people in our life. The high level of the movies and professionalism of the film crew were emphasized at a time. At the end of the discussion the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan blessed the audience and delivered a speech. Discussing the idea of the movie, His Grace stressed the promotion of national unity and urged to preserve this unity, as well to give impetus to the development of the culture, which would lead us to a brighter future. The filming crew spoke about future projects, including a film about the Armenian-Georgian friendship. The screenplay is ready, and work is about to begin.
