“Parade of Trumpeters” at the “Hayartun” Center of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia PDF Print E-mail

On December 1, 2013 at the “Hayartun” Center of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia another event of the Union of Armenian Musicians of Georgia (Chairman Artem(Grigorents) Kirakozov) was held. Wind instruments, the trumpet in particular, were the topic of the concert-lecture. Connoisseurs and admirers of this interesting and beautiful instrument came to learn more about it and to listen to the performance.

The clergy of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, Armenian and Georgian musicians, composers, a group of teachers that arrived in Tbilisi under the guidance of Valeri Selmashov, Head of the Regional Department of Education Culture and Sports in Akhalkalaki, leaders of Armenian civic organizations in Georgia and others attended the event.

Gary Antonyan, Associate professor at V. Sarajishvili Tbilisi State Conservatory, soloist of Tbilisi Symphony Orchestra, who has created his band only five years ago, teaches children of different ages to play the trumpet. And so young trumpeters headed by their teacher Gary Antonyan took part in the event.

The host of the event Artem Kirakozov presented this wind instrument in an interesting way, and called attention to its subtleties and complexities. Gary Antonyan’s students – Ilia Shiolashvili, Valerian Saatashvili, Victoria Kazaryan, Keti Dolidze, Sergey Antonyan and Sergey Sargsyan performed one after another the pieces of Puccini, Arno Babajanyan, Georgy Sviridov, Revaz Lagidze, Meri Davitashvili, Merab Merabishvili. Gary Antonyan’s joint performance with his students was especially impressive. Nino Reskasheli accompanied on piano during the concert.

At the end of the event musician Merab Merabishvili congratulated the organizers and participants, he expressed his gratitude in connection with the performance of his works at the event. He welcomed the realization of similar concert-lectures and expressed willingness to participate in them.

At the end the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan blessed the audience and expressed his opinion. His Grace highly appreciated the cooperation of Armenian and Georgian cultural figures, and welcomed the performance of works by both Armenian and Georgian composers at the “Hayartun” Center of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia. The Head of the Diocese highly appreciated the skills of trumpet-player Gary Antonyan and praised his activities, the aim of which is to pass on his knowledge to young people.

Wonderful wind music concert completed the event.
