On December 16 the delegation of the Yerevan Municipality while on a working visit to Tbilisi visited the Tbilisi Pantheon of the Armenian Writers and Public Figures “Khojivank” and laid flowers on the graves of prominent public representatives. At the Pantheon of the Public Figures the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan and the clergy conducted a requiem service. The Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Armenia to Georgia Hovhannes Manoukian, Embassy diplomats and members of the public attended the religious ceremony.

In the afternoon the solemn opening of the public garden, located near Surb Etchmiadzin Church, took place in Avlabari district; the Mayors of two capital cities – the Mayor of Tbilisi Gigi Ugulava and the Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan attended the ceremony.

The Mayor of Tbilisi opened the ceremony. Gigi Ugulava expressed his gratitude to the Tbilisi Sakrebulo for supporting the Municipality’s initiative and named the public garden opening a new page in friendship between Tbilisi and Yerevan. He congratulated the audience on the occasion of the Yerevan public garden opening in Avlabari.

The Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan named symbolic the fact that this small garden entitled the Yerevan public garden is situated in Avlabari – Armenian-inhabited district of Tbilisi, near the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Armenia to Georgia Hovhannes Manoukian called the Armenian-Georgian friendship God’s grace, which the new generation should protect and promote.

In connection with the solemn opening of the Yerevan public garden in Tbilisi, poetess and translator Anahit Bostanjyan recited her own poem, dedicated to two cities, which have had friendly relations for many centuries.

The new Yerevan public garden will become one of the coziest places to rest in picturesque Tbilisi.
