On January 11, at the initiative of the Union of Armenian Musicians of Georgia and under the auspices of the “Hayartun” Center at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, the Calouste Gulbenkian Hall hosted an evening of guitar music. The evening was symbolically dedicated to Tengiz Gamidadze 50th Anniversary on Stage. The guitarists of the older generation and their students took part in the event, which was attended by guitar music fans, professional guitar players and musicians. Chairman of the Union of Armenian Musicians of Georgia Artem Kirakozov (Grigorents) hosted the event. He recalled in his welcoming speech the Armenian Musicians of Tbilisi Nikita Mkrtchyan, Oksa Arakelyan who had contributed to the development of Armenian music in this city. And the record of “Dun en glkhen” by Sayat Nova in the unique performance of guitar player Oksa Arakelyan sounded in the hall, causing delight and surprise in the audience. Roman Bregvadze, Nodar Kenchadze, Revaz Gojiashvili, Alexander Sarkisov performed one after another. The performance of Tengiz Gamidadze’s students Irakli Ghvinjilia, Alex Kasabov and others was promising. Svetlana Tatoeva and Merab Andronikashvili who performed Russian romances gave a special luster to the evening of guitar music. The evening perfectly combined the performance of different generations of fans of this fine string instrument.
