The priests of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia took part in the Feast of St. Ghevond the Priest and His Companions |
On February 25 which marks the Feast of St. Ghevond the Priest and His Companions, under the presidency of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, the traditional meeting of priests took place in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, to which celibate bishops of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, the Primates of the Armenian Dioceses, 230 clergymen of different Dioceses and the Mother See were invited. From the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia spiritual shepherd of the Cathedral of Surb Gevorg in Tbilisi Priest Narek Ghushchyan, Sacristan of the Cathedral of Surb Gevorg Priest Husik Harutyunyan and spiritual shepherd of Surb Etchmiadzin Church in Tbilisi Priest Samvel Torosyan attended the meeting of priests. In the morning in the Etchmiadzin Cathedral the clergy, under the presidency of the Catholicos of All Armenians, attended the Divine Liturgy. Spiritual shepherd of St. Sargis Church in Tsakhkunk of Sevan Region and of St. Gevorg Church in Tsamakaberd Priest Nshan Sargsyan conducted the divine service. During the liturgy Holy Father properly delivered a sermon about the sacrament and longevity of the Feast of St. Ghevond the Priest and His Companions. After the Liturgy the traditional meeting of priests started to work in assembly hall of the Gevorkian Theological Seminary, during which they discussed two topics: “Significance of Sunday schools in community life” and “The role of the priest’s wife in shepherd service”. Upon the completion of the meeting the traditional annual awards ceremony was held. In honor of the Feast the Catholicos of All Armenians granted some priest of the Armenian Apostolic Church the right to wear Phelonian. The Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia feels joy and pride to inform that Priest Husik Harutynyan, Priest Narek Ghushchyan and Priest Samvel Torosyan from the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia as well were granted the right to wear Phelonian. At the end of the awards ceremony His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians again gave counsel to the clergy. The clergymen of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, under the leadership of the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan, the officials, the “Hayartun” Center staff would like to sincerely congratulate the priests of the Diocese on receiving Blue Ribbon awards and wish them productive spiritual service.
