Meeting of religious community leaders was held at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia |
On March 4, 2014 at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Holy Church in Georgia a meeting of religious community leaders of Georgia took place. The Head of the Roman Catholic Church in Georgia, His Eminence Bishop Giuseppe Pasotto, the Bishop of the Evangelical Baptist Church in Georgia, His Eminence Malkhaz Songulashvili, the President of the Evangelical Baptist Church in Georgia, His Eminence Bishop Merab Gaprindashvili, the Head of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Georgia, His Eminence Bishop Hans-Joachim Kiderlen, and the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan attended the meeting. The issues relating the appeal to Georgian authorities with the request to consider putting on the list of religious organizations, which would receive compensation for damage,caused in the Soviet Period, other religious associations which suffered a loss in the Soviet Period as well, were discussed at the meeting. The religious leaders made a joint decision to hold monthly meeting involving the representatives of religious associations of Georgia and government officials in order to become familiar with and discuss issues concerning both sides. The participants also discussed and made a decision to sign Memorandum of Cooperation on Fire Safety with Emergency Management Department of Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
