Figments of kids’ boundless imagination |
On April 5 the Calouste Gulbenkian Hall of the “Hayartun” Center at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia hosted a joint event entitled “Paper Clothing” by TAMAR and KIDS PAPER FASHION SHOW studio and the art group of the Center. The show of the same name was held one year ago, received a warm response from children, parents and teachers, and upon their request was held again this year involving a large number of participants over a wide geographical area. The Paper Show aimed to develop children's imagination by means of precious natural material – recycled paper. 70 participants representing Tbilisi Public Schools # 86, 103, 104, 131 and the art group of the “Hayartun” Center presented paper clothing. The members of Art Therapy Group of Shushi Center of the Narekatsi Art Union from the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic led by the Head of the Center Michael Sargsian and teacher Hasmik Yesayan were distinguished guests of the show. The event started with Our Father Prayer and blessing of the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia. The participants with beautiful gait and light movements presented on the catwalk the clothing – skirts, dresses, hats and accessories, which was the result of their imagination and handwork made from an ordinary paper, carton, foil, table-napkins, plastic bags and other recycled materials. Teacher Tamara Sulkhanishvili commented on each of the work. The show of the guests from Artsakh was complemented by declamation of pieces from Armenian poets’ works, which made their performance impressive and meaningful. The guests: Deputy Ambassador of RA to Georgia Vahagn Afyan, spiritual shepherd of Surb Etchmiadzin in Tbilisi Priest Samvel Torosyan, Meruzhan Shahumyan, Chairman of the Union of Armenian Artists of Georgia, members of the Council of Women of Georgia Ketevan Gabuashvili and Roza Kukhaleishvili - watched with admiration and amazement the extraordinary fashion show, and mentioned that it was a great way to develop children’s imagination and improve their aesthetic taste. At the end of the event the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia congratulated the attendees on the Feast of St. Gregory the Illuminator. He highly appreciated the work of art critic Tamara Sulkhanishvili aimed to cause children’s love and perception of beauty. His Grace welcomed the cooperation of the “Hayartun” Center and Shushi Center of the Narekatsi Art Union as well as participation of children from Artsakh in the event. All paper show participants received diplomas and presents from the International Organization Samaritan's Purse.
