On April 15 the Calouste Gulbenkian Hall of the “Hayartun” Center hosted a presentation of “Villejuif Hospital Patient” by Armenian Russian-speaking writer of Georgia, photographer, “Armenian Art Hall” website founder and director, Valery Hunanyants, which was translated into Armenian by Ahanit Bostanjyan and Ara Artian. Public presentation of the book was implemented through “The Library of Literature in Translation” book series of the "Kamurj" Public Organization and includes two works of the author – play “Villejuif Hospital Patient” and short novel “The Extraordinary Story”. The book is dedicated to the 100^th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

The Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan opened the event conveying good wishes and blessing the audience. In his statement the Primate emphasized the explanations related to Komitas’s tragic fate and the canonization upcoming plans of the Armenian Church. “We know that Komitas was not mentally ill… This factor is very important in the canonization process. In the coming year we will ask Komitas and our innocent martyrs for their intercession…”, - His Grace mentioned.

Poetess and translator Anahit Bostanjyan presented to the Armenian community of Tbilisi the author of the book, translation plan of the works and translation process. She expressed her gratitude to the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia for paying close attention to the Armenian culture in Georgia. Anahit Bostanjyan appreciated Valery Hunanyants’ play “Villejuif Hospital Patient” and named it beautiful juxtaposition of talented writer and perspicacious photographer, who on a small canvas created a realistic picture of the time. “This book is not only an artistic triumph but a demanding voice on the way to the Armenian Genocide recognition”, - Anahit Bostanjyan said.

Levon Chidilyan, Head of the Cultural Department at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia and coordinator of the “Hayartun” Center, welcomed similar events, considering that they help to invoke the memory of the nation. In his congratulatory remarks the editor of “Vrastan” (“Georgia”) Van Bayburtyan stressed that similar books must be primarily translated into foreign languages. “We must revive and present to the world our history and our national memory… It would be great if this book was translated into Georgian for the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide”, - Van Bayburtyan mentioned.

“My book was born due to musician and violinist Tatevik Sahakyan, - Valery Hunanyats said in his speech, - till 2005 I knew that Komitas was a composer and nothing more. Tatevik became for me like a star, illuminating this genius’s life journey, filled with suffering …” The fiction book is based on documentary subject; the facts are taken from the diary of direct participant of the events and modernized under photographer’s perspicacious eye. During the event art performance was held. It should be added that Anahit Bostanjyan is the author of “The Library of Literature in Translation” book series of the "Kamurj" Public Literary and Cultural Organization, while residing in America Armenian writer Avik Derents (Deirmenjyan) is financing the project. Valery Hunanyants’ works were published in Armenian as a separate book for the first time.
