Easter celebrations at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia were held according to the rites and canons of the Armenian Church. Just as on Easter Eve (Candlelight Divine Liturgy), so on Easter in Tbilisi, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Marneuli region and Batumi religious ceremonies were conducted with the participation of many faithful. And inasmuch as this year the Armenian Church and the Georgian Orthodox Church celebrated Easter simultaneously, the feast became more solemn and crowded.

The feast in Tbilisi was celebrated in a special way. On April 19, on Holy Saturday, in the morning in Surb Etchmiadzin Church, in honor of the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, at the initiative of the Union of Armenian Women in Georgia “Shushanik” and with financial support from the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, several dozen socially vulnerable families received presents, after that festive spirit reigned all over the Calouste Gulbenkian Hall of the “Hayartun” Center. Here the students of St. Movses Khorenatsi Kindergarten under the guidance of their teachers had prepared a wonderful Easter performance, which was accompanied by folk songs and dances. In the evening, before Easter Eve (Candlelight Divine Liturgy), students of the Armenian department of Public School № 103 in Tbilisi showed a literary and musical performance inside the church, depicting the story of Jesus Christ resurrection.

After that the Festive Mass "Chragaluyts" - lighting the torches- was held on the eve of the Lord's Resurrection. Priest Samvel Torosyan conducted the service, and then announced the good news of the Lord's Resurrection. Faithful visited the church till late.

On Sunday, April 20, the yard of Surb Etchmiadzin Church and the vicinity were crowded. The morning service and the ceremony of Andastan were conducted, after that the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan celebrated the Holy Liturgy in honor of the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, which was attended by the community officials, representatives of culture and education, many Armenians.

His Grace read the Message of His Holiness Karekin II on the Feast of the Holy Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ and conveyed greetings of His Holiness to the Armenians living in Georgia. At the end of the Divine Liturgy His Grace wished a happy Easter to the Christians of all nationalities living in Georgia.

The Divine Liturgy in honor of the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ was celebrated in all the churches of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia.
