Another famous Armenian’s memorial tablet was opened in Tbilisi |
On June 12th2014, at Tbilisi’s Asatiani 42 address, where world-famous Armenian astrophysicist Viktor Hambartsumyan spent his childhood and teenage years, a memorial tablet was officially opened. The official ceremony was attended by the head of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia bishop VazgenMirzakhany In his speech charge d'affaires of the Armenian embassy in Georgia VahagnAfyan mentioned the fact that many famous Armenians were born in Georgia’s capitol. The high level diplomat spoke positively about the cooperation between Armenian diplomatic mission and Tbilisi’s mayor’s office during recent years in remembering and recognizing Armenian heritage by building such monuments. Memorials such as this one dedicated to world-renowned scientist Viktor Hambartsumyan remind locals and visitors about the great heritage of the city. Tbilisi City Hall’s social services and cultural affairs department head MamukaKatsarava mentioned in his speech, that the city is proud of its’ son Viktor Hambartsumyan, who together with another astrologist YevgeniKharadze, was granted an honorary citizenship of Tbilisi back in 1982. Under the applauds of the gathered, Tbilisi City Hall’s social services and cultural affairs department head together with Armenia’s charge d'affaires officially opened the memorial tablet.
