Armenian pilgrims living in Tbilisi prayed in seven holy sites of Armenia |
With the initiative of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, and headed by the priest Manouk Zeynalyan, a group of 22 Armenian believers living in Tbilisi made a pilgrimage to Armenian Apostolic Church holy sites from September 6-8. During a three day trip the group of pilgrims lit candles and prayed in seven holy sites of Armenia. The godly pilgrimage started with a visit to Khor Virap and the local St. Mary’s Church. Later the Armenian believers from Tbilisi participated in all the night prays, as well as in the sacred liturgy performed by the priest Manouk Zeynalyan at the ancient and mighty Tatev Monastery in the morning. After receiving sacrament and after spiritual purification, the pilgrims continued their godly journey. Spiritually impressed with the ancient power of Noravank, Armavir “Surb Grigor Narekatsi” (St. Gregory the Narekatsi) churches, the group of pilgrims participated in the Holy Liturgy devoted to St. Mary, which took place in the Mother See of Holy Echmiadzin. In Surb Hripsime (St. Hripsime) the pilgrims asked for the Holy Virgin’s intercession, later in the newly built St. Hovhannes Mkrtich church in Abovyan the pilgrims asked for St. Hovhannes Karapet’s intercession. It should be noted that the saint’s relics are preserved in this church. The trip in the longest in the world tramway was very impressive for the pilgrims. The scare of height soon gave a way to the magnificent and unique scenery which all of a sudden came into view. The priest of Tatev Monastery Father Mikayel Vardapet Gevorgyan, the Ministry of Diaspora Affairs of RA, the family of Vardan and Anna Shahverdyans from Armavir, as well as the population of Lukashin Village supported the Armenian pilgrims from Tbilisi to have a trip to seven holy sites of Armenia.
