Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Tbilisi had a meeting with the Primate of the Diocese of Armenian Apostolic Holy Church in Georgia PDF Print E-mail

On October 16 of the current year, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic, Mr. Thomas Pernický, visited the seat of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia – Tbilisi St. Ejmiadzin Church. The meeting was the initiative of the Ambassador of the Czech Republic. The Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia,
His Grace Bishop St. Vazgen Mirzakhanyan welcomed the high-ranking guest in his residence. The Primate of the Diocese greeted the high-ranking guest, highlighting the relation between Armenia-Georgia and European values. In this respect he especially highlighted the role of diplomats.

The Primate introduced the Armenian churches, schools, theatre, cultural centers, functioning in Georgia, and expressed his contentment that Georgia gives an opportunity to preserve and develop Armenian education, culture and spiritual life. Notwithstanding the unsolved problems on returning the churches, confiscated from the Diocese during the Soviet era, the Armenian community in Georgia continues leading their civil and national life.

Ambassador Pernický thanked for the warm welcome and within the scope of his mission expressed his readiness to be helpful to Armenian Church.

During the conversation with the ambassador, the parties referred to restitution attempt in the Czech Republic during the Soviet years. It could be helpful in the process of returning the property to religious communities in Georgia.

The guest also prayed in St. Ejmiadzin church and walked around the educational, cultural and youth center of “Hayartun”.

The Priest St. Narek Ghushchyan, Deacon Gevorg Antonyan and Levon Isakhanyan were attending the meeting.
