On April 3, 2015 The Good Friday liturgy, commemorating the sufferings, crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his death, was conducted in the Saint Etchmiadzin Church, Tbilisi in accordance with the Armenian Church calendar.

Following the Matins, a symbolic tomb of the crucified Jesus Christ was adorned with flowers and thick branches of evergreen trees. When the evening services were finished, the procession under the leadership of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan, together with the clergy and the faithful, took out the symbolic tomb from the church. The clergy approached the tomb, sang “To your cross, Christ” hymn and then kissed the cross and the Bible put in the tomb.

The Primate of the Diocese read a sermon on the sacrament of the day, “People usually are scared of death. Thus, the resurrection of our Lord Jesus comes to restrain that fear. The flowers and the evergreen branches symbolize life, immortality and joy. The faithfulness of the Armenian believers to the Holy Week is also their faithfulness to their faith, language and homeland”. His Grace encouraged the parish to always be true Christians and stay faithful to Mother Holy See of Etchmiadzin and to Mother Armenia wherever they live.

The same services were delivered in all the churches of the Diocese.
