Armenian Children Pay Homage to Their Mother Tongue |
On April 18, 2015 Calouste Gulbenkian Hall of the Hayartun Center hosted an event dedicated to our mother tongue and the very first Armenian language teacher – Mesrop Mashtots, with the participation of “Saint Gregory of Narek” Sunday school students. Eugenia Markosyan, Director of the Educational department of the Diocese opened the event which was initiated by Tamara Gaboyan, Armenian language teacher of the Sunday School, together with “Nerses Shnorhali” youth choir (Choirmaster, Maria Abulyan) and duduk class (Teacher, Ivane Mkrtchyan). Through their recitation in Armenian, accompanied by the touching performances of the choir, duduk players and solo performers, children honored the great Mesrop Mashtots and presented the episodes from our history. They even refered to the topic of the Armenian Genocide. The director of the Hayartun Center, Levon Chidilyan, thanked the organizers of the patriotic and warm event and invited them to join the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
