Canonization Ceremony Broadcasted in All the Churches of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia |
On April 23, 2015, despite the rain, the Armenian Diocese in Georgia duly organized the live broadcast of the ceremony of Canonization for the Martyrs of the Armenian Genocideheld in the Mother Cathedral of Holy Etchmiadzin in all the churches of the Diocese, including the Saint Etchmiadzin Church in Avlabari. At 17:00, the church courtyard and nearby territory was crowded with believers. Diplomats from the RA Embassy in Georgia, distinguished representatives of the Armenian community, fellow intellectuals, NGO heads and Georgian representatives of political and public organizations, foreign guests and committed believers came to watch the ceremony on two screens placed in the church courtyard. After the Lord’s Prayer, Rev. Fr. of Tbilisi St. Gevorg Vicarial Church, Ter Narek Ghushchyan spoke about the sacrament of the day and called on the congregants to pray for making saints of the Genocide victims. He thanked the congregation for coming despite the cold weather. At the end of the ceremony, at 19:15 (symbolizing the year 1915), a minute of silence was observed in memory of the Armenian Genocide victims, and the bells of the Mother Cathedral heralded one hundred times.
