Commemorative Events in Tbilisi Dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide Continued |
On May 1, 2015 a literary and musical commemorative concert was held in Tbilisi № 104 Armenian School (Director, Irina Zhamkochyan) dedicated to the martyrs of the Armenian Genocide. With the help of the Armenian language and literature teachers, Karine Hovhannisyan and GyulnaraHarutiunova, the students presented a compilation regarding the condemnation of the genocide. The representatives of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia and the Hayartun Center, parents, teachers, students and other guests attended the event. The songs written and performed by students Aida Bazoyan, Ernest Simonyan and others, held a special place during the event. Director Irina Zhamkochyan appreciated highly the performances and thanked the teachers for preserving and developing patriotism among the students. As he concluded the event, Rev. Fr. of Tbilisi St. Gevorg Vicarial Church, Ter Narek Ghushchyan, referred to the past 100-year period of time following the Armenian Genocide. He noted that despite the 50-year long prohibition to speak out about the genocide, Armenians continue to rememberit silently and continue to demand justice. Father Ter Narek Ghushcyan appreciated highly the way most governments of the world responded during the days marking the Armenian Genocide Centennial and expressed the hope that one day justice will be done. The Director of the Hayartun Center, Levon Chidilyan and Professor Emma Akhtyan expressed their words of gratitude to the organizers for holding the touching and inspiring event. |
