The Tamamshevs’ Memorial Evening in the Caucasian House |
A memorial evening was held in the cultural relations center, “Caucasian House", dedicated to The Tamamshev family, well-known since the second half of the 19th century for its charity activities. The event was initiated by a member of the Center, Victoria Maksoeva. Guests were also able to view an exhibition of the paintings by the famous artist, Tengiz Mikoyan. The director of the Gary Davtyan Puppet and Culture House, Zhanna Davtyan, introduced the installation in the spirit of the 19th century. Alexander Tamamshev’s granddaughter Natalia Tamamsheva attended the event. Victoria Maksoeva told about the activities of Gabriel, Yegor and Alexander Tamamshevs in Tbilisi and other cities of Georgia and Russia. She spoke about the establishment of the first opera theater and caravanserai in Tbilisi, the family’s participation in charity acts and other significant contributions made to the development of theatre and education. The event included the following performances: a scene from the play, “Pepo”, performed by honored actor Robert Hovhannisyan, and a kinto dance by the “Jeiran” Dance Ensemble (artistic manager, Svetlana Yeritsyan). In addition, songs were also performed by the Hayartun Center’s Dhol and Duduk classes (teachers, Robert Kashavanidze and Ivane Mkrtchyan), and by piano player Elena Nikoleishvili and violin players Davit Hakobyan and Milena Jalalbekova. Natalia Tamamsheva thanked the center for organizing the memorial evening and shared memories about her grandfather and great-grandfathe The organizer concluded the evening with words of appreciation and read an appeal of the cultural relations center "Caucasian House" addressed to the Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia requesting that the government grant to the museum, operating at the center, the status of being the state museum and that it be allowed to name itself after Tamamshevs-Smirn
