An Outdoor event in Samtskhe-Javakheti |
Armenian youth participated in an outdoor event in Samtskhe-Javakheti region, held on September 26-27, 2015 within frames of “Improving country's environment for tolerance and inter-religious cooperation” program, implemented by Davitiani Youth Movement of the Georgian Orthodox Church and Civil Society Initiative Non-Governmental Organization. Youth Department of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia also took part in this event, represented by Michael Avagyan, Head of Legal Affairs and Cooperation Department, Nina Mesropova, Youth Programs Coordinator, as well as young activists Emil Sargsyan and Anna Miskaryan. Within this two day event young participants got acquainted with national, religious and cultural diversity of this region, as well as attended an excursion to Rabat Fortress Complex. They also visited the Catholic Monastery, Synagogue, St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Church, as well as the Sapara and Zarmza monasteries in Akhaltsikhe and Adigeni correspondingly. The young participants of the abovementioned event enriched their knowledge on the history of Samtskhe-Javakheti region, on livelihoods of local different national and religious minorities, as well as discussed those challenges, the region has faced. The event was supported by Children and Youth Development Foundation of Sport and Youth Affairs Ministry of Georgia. The abovementioned project aims to establish a Youth Inter-regional Council, which will include youth activists, representing national and religious minorities of Georgia. |
