On March 6, 2016, the Galouste Gyulbenkyan Hall of the Hayartun Center at the Armenian Diocese in Georgia hosted the film “Mikhail Loris Melikov – the Great Armenian and the Invincible General” and the book “Longing for the Motherland” presentation. The hall was crowded. In attendance were the honorable guests, who had arrived to Tbilisi specially to introduce the film to the audience, diplomats from the RA Embassy in Georgia, the clergymen of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia and members of the public. The director of Culture Department of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, Levon Chidilyan, welcomed “Kartsiq” (“Opinion”) creative group in Tbilisi this time with a movie devoted to the invincible Armenian general, Mikhail Loris Melikov. The film, shot by the creative group composed of Rachik Papinyan, Samvel Galstyan , Karine Titanyan and headed by Sergo Yeritsyan, presented Mikhail Loris-Melikov not only as a statesman and general, but basing on documentary evidence demonstrated the great Armenian’s life full of exploits, who had always been involved in national issues, wherever he was, he had a dream of nation’s independence and freedom and fought for it most of his life. The Russian emperor’s confidant, who held several government posts, was interested in the fate of Armenians and loved his motherland boundlessly. The invincible general asked to bury him in Tbilisi, beside his fellow generals, according to his will. Doctor of Philology, Professor Sergo Yeritsyan also presented a book published under the title “Longing for the Motherland”; the book talks about a pilgrimage to historic Western Armenia. Hovhannes Varyan Police Lieutenant General, Head of the RA Police Educational Complex, shared his thoughts about the film. He stressed that the great military leader, who had been interested in the fate of Armenians, the statesman and public figure inspiring victories and patriotism, would serve as a good example for the youth. The monument in his memory, adorned with his bust, stands in the yard of the RA Police Educational Complex, serving as a witness of victories and the concept of invincibility. Armenia's military attaché to Georgia, colonel Samvel Ramazyan, and former teacher Michael Tadevosov delivered speeches and called on future generations to be patriots, to love the Motherland, be inspired by example of our ancestors and invincible generals, conquer new heights. The Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan highly appreciated the patriotic work of Sergo Yeritsyan aimed at revealing Armenian traces in Tbilisi. The Diocesan Primate called upon attendees, by getting into the right mindset of the dedicated sons of the nation, to faithfully serve the country, where their professional development takes place, but to uphold the honor of the nation and be proud to be Armenian. Sergo Yeritsyan expressed his gratitude to the creative group – operator Samvel Galstyan, Hrachia Papikyan, Gagik Abelyan, emphasizing the professionalism of the film crew, who made the presentation of the movie “Mikhail Loris Melikov – the Great Armenian and the Invincible General” possible. The copies of the book “Longing for the Motherland”, written by Sergo Yeritsyan, Simon Tsaturyan, Mirza Sloyan, were distributed among the audience. |
