On February 7, 2019, presentation of the "Religions in Georgia" photo album by the State Agency for Religious Issues took place in "Biltmore" hotel in Tbilisi. The photo album in this format was published in Georgia for the first time. The photos of worship buildings and biographies of leaders of religious communities in Georgia were presented were in album. The album includes the chapels and temples in occupied territories, in Abkhazia and Tskhinvali region.
Leaders of religious organizations, Members of Georgian Parliament and Government, representatives of international organizations, diplomatic corps and experts attended the presentation.
The event was honored with the presence of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan, accompanied by Rev. Father Husik Harutyunyan, head of Administrative and Economic Department Karen Yeritsyan, head of Press Department Susanna Khachatryan and the assistant to the Diocesan Primate Michael Avagyan.
Chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues Zaza Vashakhmadze delivered a speech. The latter mentioned that the photo album reflects the national and religious diversity of Georgia and underlined the forgiveness of the citizens of Georgia for those who are different. At the same time, the Chairman of the Agency drew attention to the situation in the occupied territories of Georgia – Abkhazia and Tskhinvali region where people who stayed and live there is being pursued for national and religious reasons, human rights, as well as the right to religious communion are violated.
The album includes the photo and biography of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan, as well as photos of the Cathedral of Saint George in Tbilisi, Saint Etchmiadzin church in Avlabari, Surb Khach (Holy Cross) church in Batumi and Surb Khach (Holy Cross) church in Akhalkalaki. The photo album is published both in Georgian and English.
The State Agency for Religious Issues of Georgia will continue to implement projects aimed at harmonious cohesion and development of different religious groups in Georgia.
