On December 12, the hall of Rafael Javakhk Gharslyan Center in Ninotsminda at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia was crowded. Regional intellectuals - writers, teachers, journalists and librarians came here. They solemnly celebrated the 100^th

Anniversary of the birth of famous Georgian Armenian novelist and public figure Benik Seyranyan. After the blessing of spiritual shepherd of the local Surb Sargis Church Priest Armash Poghosyan, the audience listened with full attention to President of the “Vernatun” Union of Armenian Writers of Georgia Gevorg Snkhchyan; he highly appreciated the famous writer of more than 40 remarkable books, published in Armenian, Georgian and other languages, who was also Chairman of Armenian Department of the Union of Georgian Writers, editor of this department’s yearbook, the organizer and host of Sayat-Nova’s “Vardaton” and festival “Garun garnan mej” and a famous journalist. The host spoke about real Tbilisi Armenian Benik Seyranyan’s life, about his charisma among friends and his wonderful family.

“The “Vernatun” yearbook and “Kamurj” are the successors of tireless inspiration in modern classic. This is the path of all Georgian Armenian writers nowadays,” -Zhora Snkhchyan concluded.

People, who had personally met the great writer, knew him by his books or from pages of Vrastan newspaper spoke during the event.

At the end of the event as writer’s pledge of eternity his books were donated to the public libraries.

Readership received the books of Hovhannes Marikyan and Sergey Arakelyan, published through the offices of the “Hayartun” Center at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, with the financial support from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. Albert Isoyan, Chairman of the “Vernatun” Union of Armenian Writers of Georgia in Javakhk, as well donated to the public libraries his books published in recent years.

The declamation of poems and excerpts from the books by B. Seyranyan, A. Isoayan, S.Arakelyan and Hovhannes Marikyan decorated the event. The jubilee event was organized with the assistance of the employees of library system of Ninotsminda (Head - Tsoghik Khachaturyan) and “Arevik” Art Center for Students (Head - Astghik Darbinyan). Warm atmosphere at the event was eloquent evidence and a wreath of commemoration of our tending towards eternity great intellectual Benik Seyranyan.
