On April 19, Calouste Gulbenkian Hall of the “Hayartun” Center at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia hosted a celebration of Easter - the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, featuring the students of St. Movses Khorenatsi Kindergarten. The hall was decorated and kindergarten students were dressed in accordance with the feast. The clergy, the “Hayartun” Center staff, parents and guests were gathered in the hall.

The event started with Our Father Prayer and blessing of the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan. Eugenia Markosyan, the Head of the educational department at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia and responsible for St. Movses Khorenatsi Kindergarten, welcomed the audience and wished them a happy Easter, after that the floor was give to the kindergarten students.

Children performed one after another demonstrating beautiful declamation, joyful songs and dances in honor of the feast. There was confidence and deep understanding of the statements in their performance, which earned a thunderous applause from the audience. It was plain that the kindergarten students have long been aware of Our Father Prayer, and the Easter story, the story of Jesus crucifixion and his resurrection from the dead.

The event was filled with elements, aimed at the preservation of national identity, - wonderful performance of Armenian songs and folk dances showed that the national has already been embedded in the souls of barely speaking children.

Congratulating the organizers – the Kindergarten Headmistress Eugenia Markosyan, teachers Lala Gevorkyan, Narine Ghushchyan, Lusine Poghosyan, Pavel Oganezov and Hovhannes Shakhnazaryan, on the organization of unforgettable event, poetess and translator Anahit Bostanjyan expressed her appreciation and stressed the conducted work aimed at the preservation of Armenian national identity – to give the Armenian child Armenian education. She urged to not remove little shoots from a native tree by taking children to foreign-language schools, because only through language we learn about patriotism, and only language helps to preserve the purity of our soul. The poetess and translator presented to the kindergarten teachers a fairy tales collection “The Comet” by Makvala Gonashvili and “The story of the roebuck” by Vazha-Pshavela in her own translation.

On behalf of parents Anzhela Khachaturyan-Markaryan expressed her gratitude for the works conducted in the kindergarten as a whole and for this splendid children’s matinee in particular, she called on to observe a moment of silence in honor of innocent victims of the Armenian Genocide.

At the end of the event the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan blessed the audience and gave his opinion. He highly appreciated the work of kindergarten staff and creative performance in this stylishly decorated hall. His Grace welcomed the students, who continue their studies at school, and their parents, who stay close to the Armenian Church, the “Hayartun” Center and the kindergarten, he urged to be close to the church as it is the only right way, which helps to preserve the native language and stand firm in the faith. After that children received presents from Karen Yeritsyan, representative of the International Organization Samaritan's Purse in Georgia.
