On October 16 of the current year, the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church in Georgia, His Grace Bishop St. Vazgen Mirzakhanyan, in his residence at St. Ejmiadzin Church in Tbilisi, hosted Hovhannes Abelyan State Drama Theatre from Vanadzor City – General Director Vahe Shahverdyan, actors of the theatre and theatre and art specialist Levon Mutafyan. On those days the theatre had visited Tbilisi to participate in the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of cooperation with the local Petros Adamyan Armenian State Drama Theatre. The Abelyan theatre played “King Lear” by William Shakespeare, “Fall Evening” by Armen Bayanduryan, and “Evil soul” by Alexander Shirvanzade on Tbilisi Alexander Griboyedov Russian State Drama Theatre stage.
All the three performances were welcomed with great enthusiasm by the Tbilisi audience, and the tour became a real event for the cultural society of Tbilisi. The Primate expressed his great contentment to the guests and especially the well-known director, RA People’s Artist Vahe Shahverdyan, for his brilliant plays. The Primate also blessed the talented actors and the creative team of Hovhannes Abelyan Theatre from Vanadzor. The Primate valued the attention of the Mother Land towards Petros Adamyan Armenian State Drama Theatre, and hoped that with the united efforts and mutual support of Georgia and Armenia governments Armenian Theatre building in Tbilisi would be restored and the old and kind traditions would continue. During the meeting the General Director of Hovhannes Abelyan Theatre from Vanadzor, Vahe Shahverdyan, informed that he intends to stage a play with the actors of Adamyan Theatre in Tbilisi. The Maestro expressed his contentment on the warmness and excitement of Tbilisi audience. He also expressed his gratitude towards the managers of the hosting theatre. The guests lit candles in ancient Armenian Church of St. Ejmiandzin, walked around the “Hayartun” center and got acquainted with the activities of the center. Deacon Gevorg Antonyan was attending the meeting.
