“A Hundred Years Later: The Genocide as Seen through My Eyes” Exhibition in the Hayartun Center PDF Print E-mail

On May 15, 2015 the Hayartun Center hosted the exhibition entitled “A Hundred Years Later: The Genocide as Seen through My Eyes” dedicated to the centennial of the Armenian Genocide. The exhibition initiated by the Youth Department included original works of art – paintings, photographs, handmade items, compositions related to the theme of the genocide and revival of the Armenian nation.

Invited students from schools and universities one by one told the tragic stories of killings, loses and miracle survivals of their family members. Students Liza Torosyan, Sergey Charukhchyan, Victoria Virabyan, Milena Gharibyan, Davit Harutyunyan and others told not only the stories full of pain, anger and demand for justice but also expressed their gratitude to those states and international organizations that supported in providing shelter for survivors and recognized the Genocide.

At the end of the event, the Director of the Hayartun Center, Levon Chidilyan thanked the Youth Department Director Valery Badalyan and Coordinator of Student Activities, Nina Seropova. The Chairman of the Union of Armenian Intellectuals of Georgia, Enok Tadevosyan, was impressed by the patriotism of the students.

The key ideas of the stories told were the return to historical Fatherland, keeping alive the memory and obtaining justice”, said Susanna Khachatryan.

The Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan blessed everyone and expressed the words of appreciation to those whose artworks were displayed during the exhibition. His Grace appreciated highly the interest of the students in their history. Armen Hovhannisyan concluded the evening by reading his poem “Kinto”.
