Nativity of Mary Celebrated in the Armenian Diocese |
Each year on September 8, the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church celebrates the Feast of the Nativity of Mary. This year in the Armenian Diocese in Georgia the Birth of the Virgin Mary by her mother Saint Anne was celebrated by the on-site Divine Liturgies. On the occasion of the feast Rev. Fr. Ter Narek Ghushchyan from the Saint Gevorg Vicarial Church conducted the Divine Liturgy in the Saint Prkich Church of the 19th century in the Shamshulda village, Tetritskaro region. Rev. Fr. Ter Ghevond Topashyan, the spiritual shepherd of the Akhalkalaki city and nearby Armenian villages of the Samtskhe-Javakheti and Tsalka’s General Prelacy received the Vemkar (the rock at the bottom of the Altar) blessed by the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia and conducted the Divine Liturgy in the Saint Grigor Lusavorich Church (Saint Gregory the Illuminator) in the Oral village, Akhaltsikhe region. This was a historical day for the villagers of Oral; for the first time in 50 years they had an opportunity to take part in the Divine ceremony of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church dedicated to the Feast of the Nativity of Mary. |
