The anniversary of the release of St. Gregory the Illuminator from the Khor Virap prison, the International Day of Children's Protection and Anniversary of Satkha Heroic Resistance of 1918 was marked in Javakheti.

On 1 June, at Surb Khach Church in Akhalkalaki a festive liturgy, dedicated to the release of St. Gregory the Illuminator from the Khor Virap prison, was served. Priest Tatev Marukyan conducted the divine service.

On 31 May, 2013 in Batumi club “Edem” the evening, dedicated to Georgia’s Independence Day and the Proclamation of the First Republic of Armenia, was held. The Union of Armenians in Ajara with the support of Batumi City Hall organized the event. Deputy Consul of RA in Georgia Armen Grigoryan, Mayor of Batumi Jemal Ananidze, deputies of Ajara Local Parliament, veterans, the participants of the Great Patriotic War and many others attended the evening.

On 2 June, 2013 on the Vakhtang Gorgasali Square in front of the Armenian Cathedral of Saint George the traditional “Vardaton” (Feast of Roses) was held. The “Hayartun” Cultural Center of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia, with the support of Tbilisi Municipality, RA Embassy to Georgia and under RA Ministry of Culture sponsorship, organized the event. The 95th Anniversary of Satkha Heroic Resistance Was Marked in Javakheti PDF Print E-mail

On 1 June, 2013 in Satkha village of Ninotsminda region the 95th Anniversary of Satkha Heroic Resistance was solemnly marked.
On 5 December, 1917, after the conclusion of the armistice with Turkey, Russian troops started to retreat from the front line – Ninotsminda region, the Armenians and Georgians were left alone and had to face the powerful Turkish armed forces, which after some time took the offensive to conquer the entire Transcaucasia. Armenians of Satkha, Akhalkalaki, and of whole Javakhk, joined by the local Georgians, prevented this attack;
