In 2015, the 180th birth anniversary of the great Armenian writer Raffi (Hakob Melik Hakobian) was celebrated. Different events were organized in memory of the great writer and public figure throughout the year in Armenia. Georgia and Tbilisi in particular, where he worked and passed away to his eternal rest, didn’t stay aside.

On December 19, 2015, the Hayartun Center of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia hosted a meeting of the Association of Armenian Women in Georgia “Shushanik”, the administration of the Council of Women of Georgia and the representatives of ethnic minorities. The meeting, organized within the framework of “History, Culture, Traditions” project of the Council of Women of Georgia (Chairperson Mzekala Shanidze), was aimed at familiarization of the representatives of other nationalities with milestones of Armenian history, examples of centuries-old culture and rich traditions.

On December 12, 2015, movie and poetry enthusiasts were gathered together in the Galouste Gyulbenkyan Hall of the Hayartun Center at the Armenian Diocese in Georgia. The clergy of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia presided by the Primate, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan, the Headquarters’ of the Armenian Diocese and the Hayartun Center’s staff, Armenian, Russian and Georgian intellectuals were in attendance of the event.

On the initiative of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia and IDeA Foundation with the support of the Hayartun Center, the art hall at Saint Gevorg Church hosted a presentation of “Surb Gevorg Cathedral: Frescoes”, “Sayat-Nova: Poetry” and “Shushanik, the Queen of Kartli” book-albums, on December 11, 2015. The event was attended by heads of libraries and art galleries, Armenian and Georgian art and culture representatives, representatives of the RA Embassy to Georgia, guests from Armenia.
