The Department of Sport and Youth Affairs of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, under the auspices of the Hayartun Center and in collaboration with the Georgian Chess federation, organized the world champion Tigran Petrosyan Cup chess tournament. A tournament was launched from May 20 to 21 in the Calouste Gulbenkian Hall, after Valeri Badalyan, Head of the Department of Youth, a teacher at Tigran Petrosian Chess Club Giorgi Baghaturov and other fellow workers had carried out thorough preparatory work. Young chess lovers of different age represented different schools of Tbilisi, Tbilisi National Youth Palace, Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University and the Hayartun Center. 18 players had applied to participate in the competition.

30 pupils of different groups of the Hayartun Center went to Rustaveli Cinema on May 19, at the initiative of the Department of Youth and the Administrative and Economic Department of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia and with the support from the Administration of Rustaveli Cinema in Tbilisi.

The Vernatun Union of Armenian Writers of Georgia and the Hayartun Center at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia launched three books - Colorful Dream Rainbow by deceased Viktor Hovsepyan, The Land of Stones by Armine Gevorkyan and an almanac Zartonk (Awakening) of the Literary Sprouts Club - on May 17, 2014 in the Calouste Gulbenkian Hall. Writers from Ninotsminda, Hovsepyan’s family members, high school students from the Armenian schools of Tbilisi and Ninotsminda and the readership attended the event.

The theme of concert entitled “The Violin Is the Queen of Music” was the violin; it was initiated by the Union of Armenian Musicians of Georgia in the framework of concert-lecture series. The event was hosted by the Calouste Gulbenkian Hall of the Hayartun Center on May 11, 2014. Musicians, young people, string music fans were gathered in the crowded hall. A famous musician Vazha Azarashvili attended the concert-lecture.

The eminent Armenian public figures and scientists, who made a significant contribution to the cultural life of Tbilisi, were buried in the Cemetery of Vera. The cemetery was opened in the 1830s’ and initially was the burial site for noble and wealthy men.
