From April 30 to May 11, 2016, Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan, at the invitation of His Grace Bishop Abgar Hovakimian, Primate of the Armenian Church Diocese of Canada, visited the Armenian Church Diocese of Canada.

On April 28, 2016, upon receiving the blessing of His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, a group of Armenian faithful of Tbilisi led by Rev. Father Narek Ghushyan, Pastor of the Surb Etchmiadzin Church, traveled to Jerusalem. The pilgrimage lasted for 10 days. Their big dream to visit Jerusalem came true.

May 8, 2016 became memorable for the Cathedral of St. George at the Armenian Diocese in Georgia. The newly formed Church-loving Women’s Association started its activities on this day.

The May triple-holiday unites celebratory events commemorating the Victory over Fascism, the Liberation of Shushi, and formation of the Nagorno-Karabakh Defense Army - the Volunteer Defenders Union Day. The celebration of the May triple-holiday in the Armenia community of Georgia, and Tbilisi in particular, started on May 7, 2016, with celebratory event dedicated to the 24th anniversary of Shushi Liberation, which was hosted by the Hayartun Center.
